POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Dental Assistant at Grace Clinics of Ohio supports the dentist in providing essential dental care to underserved patients. This role involves preparing patients for procedures, assisting during treatments, maintaining dental equipment, and ensuring a clean and organized dental environment. The Dental Assistant plays a key role in ensuring patients have a positive and efficient dental experience. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Patient Assistance: Prepare patients for dental procedures, including explaining treatments and ensuring patient comfort. 

• Assist During Procedures: Support the dentist during exams and treatments by handing instruments, suctioning, and providing other assistance as needed. 

• Sterilization and Equipment Care: Assist with cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining dental instruments and equipment following clinic protocols. 

• X-Rays: Take dental X-rays (only if certified), ensuring safety protocols are followed. 

• Record Keeping: Update patient records with treatment details, X-ray results, and progress notes in the clinic’s record keeping system.  

• Patient Education: Educate patients on proper oral hygiene, post-treatment care, and preventative dental practices. 

• Clinic Organization: Keep the dental area clean and organized, ensuring all supplies and equipment are readily available. 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Completion of a dental assistant program (preferred not required). 

• Certification in radiology (preferred not required). 

• Knowledge of dental procedures, terminology, and patient care. 

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse patient populations. 

• Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
