Dentist Volunteer Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Dentist at Grace Clinics of Ohio provides essential dental care to underserved patients, focusing on preventive, diagnostic, and restorative treatments. This role involves conducting exams, diagnosing dental conditions, performing procedures, and educating patients on oral health and hygiene. The Dentist plays a key role in improving the dental health and well-being of the community. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Patient Examinations: Conduct thorough dental exams, diagnosing conditions such as cavities, gum disease, and other oral health issues. 
  • Treatments and Procedures: Perform a range of dental procedures, including fillings, extractions and cleanings (when time and schedules allow)  
  • Sterilization and Equipment Care: Assist with cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining dental instruments and equipment following clinic protocols. 
  • X-Rays: Take dental X-rays when needed ensuring safety protocols are followed. 
  • Patient Education: Provide education on proper oral hygiene practices, diet, and the prevention of dental issues. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with dental assistants, hygienists, and other clinic staff to provide comprehensive care and ensure patient comfort. 
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and any follow-up care needed. 
  • Compliance: Ensure that all treatments and procedures follow clinic protocols and adhere to relevant healthcare regulations and standards. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited institution. Valid state licensure to practice dentistry. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to educate and work with diverse patient populations. 
  • Compassionate and patient-focused approach, especially when treating underserved or anxious patients.
