Physician or APP Volunteer Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Physician or Advanced Practice Provider (APP), including Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistants (PA), at Grace Clinics of Ohio delivers comprehensive, compassionate medical care to underserved patients. This role involves diagnosing and treating medical conditions, prescribing medications, and collaborating with other healthcare providers to create individualized treatment plans. The Physician/APP plays a critical role in enhancing patient health outcomes and ensuring accessible care for individuals in need. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough medical evaluations, including taking medical histories, performing physical exams, and ordering diagnostic tests as needed. 
  • Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnose a wide range of medical conditions, prescribe medications, and provide both short-term and long-term treatment plans. 
  • Patient Education: Educate patients on managing their health conditions, treatment options, lifestyle modifications, and preventive care. 
  • Collaborative Care: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, and specialists, to coordinate care and ensure comprehensive treatment plans. 
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date medical records in the clinic’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, ensuring all patient interactions, diagnoses, and treatments are properly documented. 
  • Advocacy: Advocate for patients, particularly those with limited access to healthcare, ensuring they receive necessary referrals, resources, and support for their well-being. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Physician: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution and active state licensure to practice medicine. 
  • APP (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant): Master’s degree in Nursing (for Nurse Practitioners) or related healthcare field (for Physician Assistants), with active state licensure. 
  • Strong clinical skills and the ability to diagnose, treat, and manage medical conditions. 
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse patient populations.
