Podiatrist Volunteer Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Podiatrist at Grace Clinics of Ohio provides specialized care for patients with foot, ankle, and lower limb conditions. This role involves diagnosing, treating, and preventing a variety of podiatric issues, including injuries, deformities, and chronic conditions. The Podiatrist plays a vital role in improving mobility, alleviating pain, and enhancing the overall quality of life for underserved individuals. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations of patients’ feet, ankles, and lower limbs, including taking medical histories, performing physical exams, and reviewing diagnostic test results when applicable.  
  • Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnose and treat a wide range of podiatric conditions, such as plantar fasciitis, bunions, diabetic foot issues, sprains, and infections. 
  • Surgical and Non-Surgical Interventions: Perform medical procedures (if necessary and clinic schedule allows), including wound care, nail care, and corrective treatments. Provide non-surgical interventions such as physical therapy and orthotic recommendations. 
  • Patient Education: Educate patients on proper foot care, injury prevention, and management of chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, arthritis) to maintain optimal foot health. 
  • Treatment Plans: Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, goals, and medical conditions, including follow-up care and recommendations for home care. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare providers, including primary care physicians, nurses, and physical therapists, to coordinate care for patients with comprehensive healthcare needs. 
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records, including diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress notes, in accordance with clinic protocols and confidentiality standards. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from an accredited institution. 
  • Valid state licensure as a Podiatrist. 
  • Strong knowledge of foot, ankle, and lower limb anatomy, diseases, and treatments. 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care, particularly for underserved populations. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
